Susan Toll

Missouri State University

Susan took a non-traditional path for her post-secondary education. In 2008, after years away from the classroom, Susan decided to return to school. Using that moment as a catalyst, she tapped into her employer’s tuition reimbursement program to re-enter higher education. Working full-time and balancing her role at home, she began taking classes to achieve her Associates’, Bachelors’, and eventually her pursuit of a Master of Accountancy. On campus, she engaged with MSU’s Theta Pi chapter of Beta Alpha Psi where she began partnering with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. The time spent volunteering ignited her passion for accounting. After three years with VITA and receiving the Making a Difference Award for the most volunteer hours, Susan is pausing from her volunteering to complete her CPA exams. After passing, she plans to return to volunteering and continue to give back to her community.
