Maxwell Fiebelkorn
Western Michigan University
Early on in high school, I took a general business course that I really enjoyed with one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. She also taught an accounting course that she mentioned I might like. I took it the following year and enjoyed it so much that I proceeded to take two community college accounting courses my senior year and pursue it as my major at Western Michigan University.
During my time at Western Michigan University, I got to serve multiple leadership roles on our Accounting Club, as a Director of Mentorship and Treasurer. I also got the opportunity to be a member of our Beta Alpha Psi chapter. I had the wonderful experience of being on our presentation team for a regional and national competition where we represented the chapter and presented on how we are impacting our community.
My first accounting internship was a tax internship at BDO USA, LLP, a global public accounting firm. This was a great opportunity to see how all my knowledge could be applied to the workforce after I graduate. I enjoyed it so much that I did a second internship and accepted a full time offer for when I graduate. I also had another accounting internship at Mol-Son, LLC, a tool manufacturer company.
My future plans include starting at BDO full time as a tax associate. One thing I’ve always loved about accounting is the number of opportunities and pathways it opens up. I’m very excited about my future in the field and excited to see what it has in store for me.
