I have always been interested in accounting as it runs in my family but what truly motivated me to pursue my accounting degree and CPA degree was my Uncle Brad. Upon completion of my Associates in Business at a community college, he asked me if I could help him at the front desk of his business as his employee couldn’t make it to work. He asked me that day, “What exactly do you want to do next in your college career?” My Uncle went to UHCL and told me he believes I would enjoy public accounting and that I should look into attending the university for my CPA credits, research more about audit accounting and to apply as an intern for a CPA firm he worked at the beginning of his career. I ended up going to work at the same firm, Ham, Langston & Brezina, LLP, as an intern and have been there since June 2020, where I began to fall in love with the industry.
My last year as an undergrad at UHCL, I was honored to work as the Vice President of the Accounting Association in Service Activities. I plan on finishing my Master’s in Accounting and to start studying for my CPA while I continue to work for HL&B. I am very excited for what the future holds in the world of accounting!
