University of Florida
In high school, I took a few introductory accounting courses with a passionate CPA as the teacher. She had a great impact on me and encouraged me to consider studying accounting in college.
I had the opportunity to participate in two case studies and represent UF during my junior and senior year. This gave me a glimpse of what the accounting profession and problem-solving situations may look like one day, and I had a great time working with the other team members and traveling to Atlanta and Miami.
For a couple of years throughout my time at UF, I was involved with Enactus, a volunteer organization with an entrepreneurial focus. I worked specifically with a project called Strides. During this project, we worked with women in Gainesville looking to re-enter the workforce. During our weekly sessions, we would practice skills related to resume building, interview techniques, and strengthening our participants’ confidence by facilitating this community of strong women.
For two years, I served as the Student Assistant for one of UF’s introductory accounting courses. Helping students understand the difficult material and getting to know them during office hours was one of my favorite and most rewarding experiences.
