I was an electronics engineering student prior to migrating to Guam and joining the US military. After fulfilling my military duties, I decided to pursue a different career than engineering because I fell in love with my very first accounting class, Financial Accounting 101. Two little children and few years later, I graduated with a BBA in Accounting from Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) with summa cum laude honors. After graduation, I took few months off and decided to sit for the CPA exam. Fortunately, I passed all sections prior to starting my Master of Accounting (MACCT) program at The University of New Mexico (UNM) in 2020. As of now, I completed my winter internship with KPMG Albuquerque and will start as a fulltime audit associate following my graduation in the fall of 2022.

Planning is everything. If you do not make plans for your future, other people will do it for you. I write my plans, set goals, and start working on those goals. I had so many roadblocks along the way and had to pause my career to take care of my growing family, but I never stopped working on my plans/goals. Pausing does not mean quitting, and I realized that reassessing my priorities helped me achieved my goals and balance in life.
