Although I have always enjoyed/been comfortable working with numbers, a career in accounting never really crossed my mind prior to enrolling in college. It was not until I completed introductory courses during undergrad that I chose to pursue a degree (and ultimately a career) in accounting. During this time, I was able to grasp the basic concepts of the subject with relative ease, and the repetitive nature of accounting further reinforced this. As I progressed into more advanced courses within the curriculum, accounting undoubtedly became more difficult for me. However, I found the complexity/challenges associated with higher curriculum to make the field of study more interesting than I had found it before (especially when it came to tax). At this time, I am very pleased with my decision to pursue a career in accounting and look forward to seeing what it can offer in the future!
For now, I currently work for a firm in Huntington, WV as a staff accountant while I am actively studying for the CPA exam as well. Ultimately, I hope to stay in public accounting for 5-10 years and eventually transition into the private sector. When I am not busy with work or exam preparation, I enjoy exercising, golfing, and spending time with friends/family.
