I am a natural problem solver and find it rewarding to dig deeper and uncover solutions to challenges, almost like solving a puzzle, which drew me to accounting in the first place. I soon realized I was following in my aunt’s footsteps and spent a few years in college working with her at Pen and Ledger, a small accounting firm. This experience taught me the basics and gave me an inside perspective into small business accounting, with a focus on startup companies ranging from bakeries to retail to professional wrestling. Last spring, I was able to continue to build upon this experience while interning with Ernst & Young in the assurance services. I was fortunate to be able to study abroad in London my junior year of college which sparked a passion for traveling and experiencing different cultures. One of my professional goals is to work abroad and possibly participate in an international rotation. After graduating from Texas Christian University in May with my masters in accounting, I will join the Financial Accounting Standards Board as a Postgraduate Technical Assistant. I am looking forward to this next chapter as I put my knowledge and skills to use in helping build upon the accounting framework.
