Coming from a small town in Russia, I feel very fortunate to have been accepted to such a great university as San Diego State University where I pursued my degree in Accountancy. Having started as a general business major, I knew that accounting was my passion after the first two introductory courses in Financial and Managerial accounting. Amazing professors and strong faculty definitely made a difference in my choice. Now, finishing my final year of BMACC program, I truly believe that accounting profession plays a critical role in the proper functioning of public companies and financial markets. Therefore, in my view working as an auditor which I start next Fall at PricewaterhouseCoopers will satisfy my desire for having a challenging analytical profession that will push me to grow even further as well as will give me an possibility to make a difference in the world.
While studying at SDSU, I had a lot of opportunities to get involved into our community and give back. I enjoyed being a member of honor accounting society Beta Alpha Psi, continuously volunteered with San Diego County Junior Achievement program and taught lower division accounting classes while working as a teaching associate at SDSU. I also completed a one year internship program at Solar Turbines, San Diego which I was able to get thanks to networking opportunities provided by the university.
I start as an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Fall 2016 and I am really looking forward to perusing a career in this extremely demanding and challenging industry of public accounting. I do believe that I was able to get a strong foundation and will be well prepared for obstacles of real life after graduating from San Diego State University. I hope that my relationship with SDSU will not stop at that point and I will be able to give back to my alma mater in some way or form to which I am so grateful to!
