I have always loved numbers, and math was my favorite subject growing up. Moving to the US from India when I was young was a big transition, but numbers were my one constant. It has been said math is a universal language, and I truly believe that. I had initially planned on pursuing an engineering degree but my plans changed after I took my first ever accounting course at the College of DuPage. I loved what I was learning and realized by the end of the semester that I wanted to pursue a challenging and rewarding career in the accounting field. I transferred to the University of Illinois at Chicago to complete my bachelor’s degree in accounting and graduated with a 4.0 major GPA. During undergrad, I worked at a financial institution and had the opportunity to assist on several audit-related projects. It made me appreciate the importance of the audit function and sparked my interest in external audit.
