Lauryn K. Ragland
I came into the College of Business unsure of where I wanted to go. After taking the introductory accounting courses required for all business majors, I was intrigued by the material and by the passion that my professors had for the topic. I decided to pursue my degree in accounting because of the program at UIUC and the professors that I would be learning from every day. During college, I was involved in several organizations, but my major passion was Global Business Brigades. With this organization, I was not only able to travel to Panama to teach financial literacy in an indigenous area, but I also was able to hold a leadership position that allowed me to help another large group of students make the same difference in the following year. I am a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and the Business Honors Program, and I received the honor of Bronze Tablet with my undergraduate degree. I am currently in the process of becoming a CPA, and I will start with Ernst & Young in St. Louis in the fall. I hope to gain a lot from my experience with EY and find an industry that I am particularly passionate about to further pursue by career as a CPA.
